Heads Up for Hickling!

Hickling House Captains become Headteachers for the Day!

Hello, we are the Hickling House Captains of the Junior Leadership Team and we have just been Headteachers for the day. This morning we discussed with Mr. Young what our day might involve and were treated to a hot drink. Hmm hot chocolate! We went around the Junior and Infant schools to complete our learning walk on our uniqueness as a Federation. This meant we had to talk to many different children to see if they could give us great examples of how our schools stand out and demonstrate our values. We led a good work assembly at the Infant school, we read to the Reception class and enjoyed playing games at break time with the children. At both schools we helped Mr. Young alongside our other JLT members to set up the new equipment inside our nature areas. We spent some money on a new gymnastics mat and some new resources for the NEST. We had the best time ever and wish we could do it again!

This week has been dedicated to art and it has seen all classes engage in a cross-phase tasks. Here the older classes from Juniors paired up with Infant classes and completed a variety of artistic challenges helping them to work on collaboration, compromise and responsibility. Everyone had a great time and found the experiences very rewarding.

It was positive also to host our presentation evening with our new Year 3 parents. Many turned up to participate and I enjoyed taking parents around for them to see what the Junior school has to offer.

Thank you for all the donations of tombola and raffle prizes for our Summer Fayre. They were gratefully received.

Next week, we have the Year 2 children visiting to take part in a French lesson as part of their transition.

Have a great weekend everyone.
