Runners Up and Remembrance!

Football Final and Remembrance Service brings the week to a close!

The week began with a trip for Year 6 to Duxford - an early start and a later finish provided the class with some fantastic history learning all in aid of consolidating their understanding of World War Two. The children were a credit to the school from the feedback I received from staff and I have no doubt they all enjoyed the trip out of our surroundings immensely.

On Wednesday, a group of children from within each year attended the Cross Country regional competition at Bure Park. Every child who took part did so with such great enthusiasm overcoming any early nerves they may have had. There were a few ticketing issues to contend with, but I am proud to say the school secured eleven children through to the next round of this sport at the County event. Well done to everyone!

It was an extremely important week for the children to demonstrate one of our values of Respect by participating in our community Remembrance event held around the village memorial. Here, the children learnt how we commemorate the fallen from two world wars and the conflicts since; those who gave their lives to secure and maintain our freedoms. The behaviour at the service was impeccable and makes me proud to be Headteacher of such wonderful schools. The contributions made by each class were lovely. Hearing the praise from so many members of the public for our respectful conduct was also rewarding.

I am also so proud of the Years 5 & 6 Girls' Football Team for taking part in the GYSFA tournament held at Flegg High Academy. The team played and won all four group games without conceding a goal before securing their place in the final, where they sadly lost on penalties to Woodlands Primary Academy. The team worked so hard for each other displaying our values of Togetherness, Family and Friendship and enjoyed every moment of the afternoon. Well done everyone!

Next week, we start Monday with our nod to Anti-Bullying Week by wearing odd socks. On Wednesday and we end the week with a non-uniform day in exchange for a £1 donation which will all go towards Children in Need. We also can see if the Years 5 & 6 Boys' team can go one better and win their equivalent tournament. We shall see.

Have a lovely weekend everyone!
