What have the Romans ever done for us?
Pupil invasion from Norfolk on Colchester Castle!
The weather this week has been grim to say the least, but the rain has done nothing to dampen the mood of pupils and staff.
We began the week with Odd Sock Day to promote the importance of Anti-Bullying and we ended the week raising awareness and money for Children in Need. Both are very significant causes. For Children in Need, we raised managed to raise £115 and combined with Infant school this came to £223. Hopefully, our Peer Mentors will be able to attend anti-bullying training locally soon in order to raise their skills even further in restorative practice.
Year 4 travelled early on Thursday over to Colchester Castle to enhance their learning all about Roman Britain. Everyone learnt a great deal and enjoyed themselves returning full of vigour. More photos are on our social media pages and gallery page on this website. Unfortunately, the school camera broke under the strain of all the excitement. Well, according to Mrs. Holt anyway ;).
On Friday, the Years 5 & 6 Boys' Football team travelled to Flegg High Academy for their version of the GYSFA tournament and all competed very well. It was great to see so many other teams taking part and it was another good opportunity for our pupils to showcase their talents in representing the school.
Parents! Please be vigilant when driving nearby school at the busier times of the day and be responsible when parking for our neighbours, because we have had some near misses recently and I would hate to learn of any accidents. We are booking some Road Safety sessions in the future, which we hope will strengthen our own pupils' understanding of such an important issue.
You will have noticed we sent home our parental version of our school improvement plan and shared a child-friendly version to the pupils. We hope in doing this you will be able to see a snapshot of what we are planning to work on over the coming year. An invitation was also sent home to you regarding our Curriculum Celebration Event, that will take place on the final day of term. Here, our pupils will share their learning with you in their books and speak proudly about what they have enjoyed about the first term. We hope you will be able to attend.
Next week, we have our Senior Citizens' lunch with our Year 3 class on Thursday, which we are hoping will be a giant success and on Friday our Junior children will be preparing small Christmas tokens in class, which they are planning on giving over to the Infant children. I wait and see what they create.
Have a great weekend everyone!
